Stafford Garage Conversion
This integrated garage conversion transformed a narrow, underused space into a bright, open-plan kitchen and living area. By knocking through internal walls and fully integrating the garage into the main footprint of the home, the property gained a seamless, modern living space that feels natural, functional, and purpose-built rather than converted.
This project began with the transformation of an integrated garage that was previously separated from the main house by internal walls and doors, limiting its usability and connection to the rest of the property. Although the footprint was relatively narrow, the opportunity to open the space fully into the home allowed for a far more practical and valuable layout.
The initial stage involved removing the separating wall between the garage and the existing dining area, creating a full-length, open-plan space running through the property. This immediately changed the flow of the home, opening up sightlines and allowing the new kitchen layout to span the entire depth of the building.
Structural and preparatory works followed, including the installation of insulation across the former garage floor and a tongue and groove timber floating floor was laid to create a solid, level base consistent with the rest of the house. Externally, the original garage door opening was bricked and blocked up, allowing the structure to be properly insulated and integrated into the thermal envelope of the home.
First-fix services were then installed, including plumbing and service runs along the new internal walls, preparing the space for the kitchen layout. Once complete, the entire area was plastered, creating a single continuous room that visually unified the former garage and original living areas.
The final stage saw the installation of a modern open-plan kitchen with contemporary sage green finishes, transforming what was once a disconnected garage into a seamless, stylish living space. The completed conversion is now indistinguishable from the original structure of the home, providing a practical, light-filled kitchen and living area that significantly improves both the usability and value of the property.
