Lintel replacements on house - kept existing windows and door

Boot Lintel

Boot Lintel replacement on Kitchen, Patio Doors, and Side Window whilst retaining the window and door fixtures for the client

The lintel supports the weight of the masonry above any openings. These are typically your doorways and windows where there are bricks above. The weight of these bricks bears down on the windows and doors. Without a dedicated lintel, you would see sagging of door and window frames and movement (cracks) around these openings too. Whilst lintels are the correct way to spread this weight, over time they can deteriorate (particularly when exposed to the elements). For our client, the windows and doors were fine thanks to the previously fitted lintels. However, with the condition of the lintels, it was only a matter of time before the structural integrity of the lintels was compromised placing the weight of the bricks onto the window and door frames.

To resolve this, we removed the old lintels, held the weight of the bricks above using acrow props, and installed the new catnic lintels above the windows and doors. After this, we installed a new cavity tray to guide all penetrating water to the weep holes that were installed. The brickwork outside was matched up to provide a seamless finish and to protect the lintels. Inside, fresh plaster was applied to hide where the new lintels had been installed.
